Eligibility requirements
- Have been accepted by a SEVP-certified educational institution
- Have Form I-20 issued by the institution
- Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition and expenses
- Demonstrate intent to return to home country after studies
- Sufficient command of English (or prior ESL program)
Process steps
- Accept the university offer and receive the I-20
- Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee ($350 USD)
- Complete the DS-160 form
- Pay the consular fee ($185 USD)
- Schedule and attend the consulate interview
